Ämyri, located right outside the main entrance, is essentially a big iron pipe and a public jukebox that always tells stories about the place where it’s installed. At Cable Factory, it interacts with its surroundings, sharing the building’s different stories and soundscapes.

- Our periscope is essentially a medium for bringing a place’s story to life - sometimes through poetry, other times through memories and authentic sounds. And we’re truly excited to help tell the story of a place with such unique history, spirit, and atmosphere as that of Cable Factory, says Ondřej Kobza, founder of the original Czech Poesiomat project.

- We fell in love with the Poesiomat at first sight! says KAAPELI’s (Kiinteistö Oy Kaapelitalo) CEO Kai Huotari. - Its design language fits perfectly with Cable Factory’s industrial character and its concept supports our aim to highlight the building’s history for our visitors. We named our device Ämyri. It’s an old colloquial Finnish word meaning a loudspeaker, a PA speaker or an amplifier, he adds.

Ämyri doesn’t need electricity. You operate it by turning a crank first, and then by pressing a button our visitors can choose from 20 different recordings: an old advertisement from one of our tenants, the atmosphere of an event, sounds from a rehearsal space or even a visual artist’s thoughts.

After checking out Ämyri, it’s worth heading to our history corridor, where a nearly 200 m² mural series by the artist Ruusa depicts Cable Factory’s story over nearly a hundred years, from factory to vibrant cultural centre. The corridor is located on Cable Factory’s Baana, along the route that leads from the Glass Courtyard down to the basement, toward staircase C. Free entry.
